The Ozette trail is a fairly easy 9.2 mile hike. It is a “must do” for an Olympic Coast hike. Cross the Ozette River. Most of the trail out to the coast is on a cedar planked boardwalk. Ferns. Skunk cabbage. Sitka spruce. Reaching Cape Alava 3.3 miles out. Walk south along the shore…. occasionally having to use the short but steep trails (help of rope to ease you climb and your decent) when the tide is high. You will find petroglyphs etched in the stone on a cluster of boulders about halfway to Sand Point . These predate European settlements in the NW. Good luck finding all 44 of them.
Once you reach Sandpoint look for your trail sign to take you back into the Forrest and to your car.
Stay at the Lost Resort near by for easy camping.
They even have beer on tap. Beware they close at 8pm. So we missed the beer. 🙁 #ozettetriangle #makahnation #petroglyphs #weddingrocks #pnw #pnweirdos #olympicnationalpark #spontaneoustrip #inourbackyard #washingtonstate #upperleftcorner #sasquatch_and_wanderwoman @ Ozette Loop Trail
